One of favorite stylistic period is the Medieval Art. I think that Medieval Art is so interesting because there was such a divide during this time. In the East, the orthodox made little distinction between the church and the state and this was seen in the art. While in the West, there was more distinction and hosted many different styles of art. Also looking at the art from this era, they are so beautiful in the mix of styles seen in this era. I am excited to learn more about this era in the next week while working on the Art project.

I think the most interesting art period is the gothic period. I really like all the tall buildings and stained glass. The detail in stained glass is simply amazing and the architecture of tall steeples. I also think its interesting that they thought the taller the building the greater it is. Something else that is very cool is that they use stone for most buildings instead of brick or anything like that.

The stylistic period that I found most interesting was the Late Classical period of Greek art. I am currently taking AP Art History and this topic ties in very closely with what we have been discussing recently. I know that the late classical period is the transitional phase into the Hellenistic period of Greek art, where emotions really take hold, and I find the examination of deep inner emotions in this period very intriguing. The female nude begins to become popular at this time as well as the over the top expression of feeling in the face. The detail of sculpture in this period is what draws me to it the most. I especially like the way in which fabrics and drapery seem to develop a character of their own, appearing just as magnificent as their wearers often times.

My favorite style of art that we have been researching is diffidently Gothic. I have always really liked the gothic architecture especially because of the stern austere look it often has. Notre Dame is one of my favorite buildings because of its steep façade and the intricate detail. Also the stained glass windows that are usually present in Gothic architecture are very aesthetically pleasing. I like the combination of pious scenes with slightly morbid undertones that add to the mystery that gothic art seems to posses. Furthermore, the statues from the period display a vacant and twisted look that is made stranger by the fact that at times gothic art mixes humans with unnatural beings. The blend of ornate metal work and stone carving creates a very stern look that to me reflects on the lifestyles of the time as well as the religious teachings. The pointed arches add to the somber affects of Gothic art that I find to be an interesting portal into the warped world of old religions.

The most intriguing art style and time period for me was the Neoclassicist phase. I thought it was interesting to see such an overt demonstration of art stylistically reverting to an earlier type of drawing. Rather than advancing or looking forward to new ways of making people think, or trying out more varied skill types etc, artists instead retreated back to the much earlier, original idea about art, and what art should encompass, which seems an interesting change to make!

i think that my favorite art period that i have looked at so far would have to be the gothic period. i like the techniques they used to make buildings and art. i love looking at tall old buildings and those were the types of things that were around back then. i also like how they would use stone instead of bricks for the out sides of buildings. i also love stained glass windows and during this period is when stained glass started to come in and become popular.

The style of art that caught my attention was the Italian Renaissance period. It was strongly influenced by texts and works of art from the ancient Greece and Rome. The artwork achieved unprecedented realism in the observation of the human form while using new understanding of perspective. I found it interesting because i recognized some of the famous names associated with the time period: Michael Angelo, Donatello, and Raphael. It was during the Italian Renaissance that illusionist scenes on ceilings became more common. Pagan mythology was added into the artwork as well as biblical subjects and the medium shifted from tempera to oil painting. Overall, I really enjoyed looking at the artwork from this stylistic period.

When it comes to art, you have to know enough about all of it to pick one as being your favorite, or most intriguing. I can’t honestly say that one is more intriguing than the next, they are equally intriguing in every sense. However, I am forced to pick one, so I chose the Romanesque period. For this stylistic period; found in mainly Western Europe, I really enjoy the architecture. The way the buildings are kind of symmetrical and simple, yet detailed makes it fascinating. The buildings are like castles with the large towers and piers that give way for round arches that have intricate decorative arcading. I love the way they look which is the main reason I want to move to Europe after college.

I would have to say that the Medieval period has most intrigued me so far in this project. I find it interesting that coming out of the Roman period, which was mainly people or statues, they had such a drastic change in art. This is also the time when most church murals were painted; I note this because I would like to see some of the church murals that took artists so long to complete. The artists put so much detail into the murals it would be interesting to go visit even just one church and see what people have been able to create. Most of the Medieval art has something to do with religion and because of this I would like to study it more so I might be able to learn more about Christianity.

My favorite stylistic period would have to be Italian Renaissance because of all the great artist that appeared in that period. Three of my favorite artist from the Italian Renaissance would have to be Michelangelo, De Vinci and Botticelli. Michelangelo is one of my favorites because I love his breath taking sculptures, like The David. De Vinci is another one of my favorites because of how he studied things in nature to make his paintings better, some examples are: he studied bird’s wings for when he painted angles wings and he studied water for when he painted hair. Lastly Botticelli is one of my favorites because of his painting, The Birth of Venus, which has to be one of my very favorite paintings ever.

The most interesting stylistic period for me has been the 17th century Baroque period. Although it features a more natural look at the world, there is a wide variety in how this perspective is presented throughout the period. Many works are shown with stillness and restraint, while others are shown with intensity and high drama. I think the mood of this art can show a very powerful and impressive appearance, and I look forward to looking through Baroque works of art in the coming week.

I myself am interested in the Roman Art style more than the other styles we have looked at this week. I think I like Roman are more is because it makes me think how in the world did they do that? Some of the sculptures that I have seen are done so well they look as if they could come alive. But it’s not just the sculptures that I’m impressed with it’s also the architecture I enjoy as well. Some of the temples entrances and the buildings as a whole give almost a thunderous presence of art, making a very true statement about the gods they were built for. Also one of my favorite peaces of Roman art that is a work of art on a grand scale is the Colosseum. It too has a presence that stated and still does state the glory of Roman Art and power.

My favorite period is the Classical Greek. I have always been fascinated by Greek Mythology which is commonly portrayed in the art of the Classical Greek Period. Thus I enjoy the stories and the characters most of this art depicts. Within the art of this period, the emotions of the pieces are apparent. The faces, for example, in this period of art portray characterizing emotions such as thoughtfulness or confidence, while the bodies portray other characteristics such as athleticism or powerfulness in some moment of action. With such depictions, you can understand the type of personalities or character that the subject of art has. I enjoy such characters and stories of mythological art pieces and hence, I favor the Classical Greek period.

My favorite stylistic art period is Baroque or Romantic. I find both of these interesting is the way the archetechture and paintings were done. The cathedrals are very elaborate and the painting is unique. I really enjoy looking at the archetechture from these periods. Trying to figure out how they made each building and cathedrals different from the other and how elaborate each one was. Its facinating and i hope to learn more about these periods through the course of the art history unit.

The period of art history that I am most intrigued by is the Romantic Period. We've already read a few works from that time period in class, but I think the visual art that that period produced is fascinating. This is mostly because every painting from that time has an underlying passage about humanitiy or nature or something like that. The artists had broad perspectives that reached beyond their individual lives, and i think interpreting these paintings is more interesting thatn interpreting ones from any other period. Although I like the look of the Neo-classical era better, I still enjoy the opposing themes found in Romantic Art better.

My favorite period is the Gothic period. I really enjoy reading about the stained glass windows and i have seen many windows like that and i never knew why they did it. But now i know from the period of which they were created and i like learning about those kind of things. Another thing is how tall the buildings were was very cool. How they thought the taller the building was the greater is was.

Of the twelve or so styles of art we are studying, Gothic Art is the most interesting to me. Characterized by large stain glass built into windows and incorporated into aritechure, the gotic period in my opinion is one of the most crerative periods or art. During this short period of time, Gothic Art was mostly religious whether the church was responsible for creating the pieces or the public, it didn't matter.

My favorite stylistic period is the Italian Renaissance. I really like the sculptures from ancient greece and rome. I also liked how all the paintings were very realistic. My sister who went to paris and studied art history mentioned to me that Leonardo Da Vinci would study human bodies to make his paintings appear more realistic. He would start by painting the human bone structure as his first layer, then add the muscles as his second, and after he would add a third layer, the skin. The painings on the ceiling is also something i love especially the one in Sistine Chapel by michelanglo. Its amazing how they can paint such realistics paintings on the ceiling. Another thing i like about the Italian Renaissances is the pagan mythology and bibical subjects such as "the last supper" by DaVinci.

I don't really have a favorite period of Art History but if I had to chose i guess it would have to be Gothic. Like a few of the other periods, Gothic art includes architecture which I am personally interested in most - I even look to go into an architectural career so it always interests me. Last year in spanish we studied the Gothic period along with most of the others listed in the packet we received, so I am familiar with most of the periods and they have all been interesting to me. The arcs of the Gothic time period as a part of the architecture, are also very stunning. I also love the use of stained glass in this period because of how beautiful and elegent it looks.

So far, the most interesting part of art history to me is Romanticism. I like this style because it is so free flowing, and based all on individual feelings of the artists are the focus of the pieces, in many of the other periods the artists were commissioned by churches and aristocrats so the views were filtered through those people. This free range of emotions in art is attributed to the enlightenment, which was an attempt to get away from the Neoclassical restraint. The imagination used is apparent in all the works and I think that is the most important element, as opposed to being able to imitate something.

My favorite stylistic period was the Gothic period. This is because i love stained glass and in this period there is amazing glass work. Also in this period the buildings are amazing, they are made out of stone, not typical brick, and there is the most amazing architectural work, for example the steeples and the intricat details. Also Gothic work is really mysterios and dark, but so delightful to look at! Overall Gothic has the most detailed and interesting work, in my opinion.

After reading through the packet I think that my favorite period would have to be romanticism. I like the fact that it has no clear beginning, middle, or end, and just flows. It expresses emotions, has imagination, sincerity, sensibility, spontaneity, individuality, and inner truth, which is facinating. It is the "mode of feeling". This just seems really interesting to me, and how it is interesting in all aspects, including the mystery of it.

Through all of our in class research, I have learned a lot about all of the stylistic periods. After reading all of the passages, I found that my favorite period is the Romanticism period. I remember comparing the romanticism gardens and some of the classical gardens last year in Ms. Hockley's class, and feeling that the ideals seen in the romanticism period were most attractive to me. My step-mom tends to our yard at my dad's house and it demonstrates some of the free flowing techniques created in the romanticism period.

My favorite stylistic period is Northern Renaissance. I like to do Oil paint and like to see the oil painting and this period is first development of Oil painting so that just catched my mind to like this period. From the packet, it describes much about painting. So when I search the art work for this period, I think I could see many painting from this period. Also, this period is more realistic, so I could understand easier than other period's of art.

I found the Italian Renaissance period to be an interesting one. Leonardo and Michelangelo were two major artists during it and they are two of my favorites. The Renaissance in Italy was strongly influenced by texts and works of art from ancient Greece and Rome. Realism is one of my favorite forms of art. Realism along with perspective are developments that characterized the Renaissance. The initial interest in realism evolved into highly animated and expressive figures which were exaggerated by Mannerism. This inspired artists to portray even more extraordinary scenes, especially on ceilings. I find the paintings on ceilings fascinating and inspiring.

I'm going to have to say that my favorite stylistic period is the gothic period. The period it self sounds very dark and gloomy and the actual art work is indeed some what gloomy and scary. However, gothic period can represent a diffrent perspective then other other art periods and thats what i like about it. I like the glass work thats involved in the gothic period becuase i personaly think it looks great. Also the period it self is completly diffrent from the perspective many people have towrad the work "Gothic" now a days. I just think it's a very catchy period in general.

I would have to say that out of all the stylistic periods of art that we've studied; my favorite has to be the Italian Renaissance. With artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo dominating the end of the period, it's hard to not like. I am Italian myself so I have always been familiar with the style of art. There was a new emergence of striking realism in particular with the human form in this period which is fascinating. There were also new developments in the use of perspective adding a new feel to art. All of these factors together make for a very interesting time in art history and that is why I like it.

The giant chruches and the religious displays. another art that is very close is the roman classical era because the romans took many different cultures and showed it in their own form. They alos kept a form of social order in their art work.

My favorite stylistic period is probably the Italian Renaissance. I went to the Louvre Museum in Paris this summer, and got to see loads of art from the Italian Renaissance. The stylistic period I like the most is the gothic period. I love the architecture of the period, with the tall and highly decorated buildings. The intricate and detailed designs of each piece looks particularly captivating to me. I also like how stained glass was strategically used to illuminate the insides, and how colorful that technique turned out. The obsession with constantly building higher and higher created works of art that are truly inspiring. I also love the statues of the period that often mirror the cannons seen in the architecture, with the detailed designs. Yet in the statues there is also other cannons, such as more twisted or grotesque positions, and vacant expressions that also draw me in, commonly seen in the popular gargoyles of the time.

The period of stylistic art I find to be most intriguing is Roman Art. I like it because it is based off of Greek architecture and is very stylistic, and way ahead of it's time. And Roman and Greeks were both individuals/humans rather than the prototype. The Greeks signed the art and the Romans didint. And I liked how the Roman architecture was advanced by the development of concrete and vaulting systems like the arch.

My favorite stylistic period was the period of the Italian Renaissance. The work that was done during this time was so realistic and detailed. The works of art themselves are also amazing, for example the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is an amazing painting that took about 4 years to complete and covered 12,000 square feet! The sculptures during this time period were also incredible and they truly showed the human body in the most realistic way possible. Lots of time and meticulous detail was put into all the pieces of the Renaissance period, and that's why its my favorite.

The stylistic period I liked the best was the romanticism, because it focused on expressing feelings and imagination rather than showing things exactly as they are.
A thing that I especially like is how the art from this period is more lively and often more interesting that art from other periods. The artists were able to express spontaneity and individually through the art, and the obsession with perfection became smaller.

The period of art that intrigues me most is the Roman Art period. It just seems like a bunch of stuff came together and changed. Roman art mirrored differences, and I like comparing things to see large changes. It also fascinated me how there are more statues than people during this time... And that the art wasn't just with statues or paintings, but with any kind of art you can think of. It just seems like Roman art ties up all of the perods before it.

My favorite period was the Italian Renesainace period. I really liked it because it was an era of infamouse artists like Donatelo, Davinci, Rafael, and Micheal Angelo. They changed the face of art forever. They evolved animated and expressive figures and used exagerated manorisms to create a new style of art. They also created very beautiful peices in chapels and archetecture. My favorite stylistic period we've been studying so far is Romantisim. I guess this could be called cheating because we had studied it before, but I still find it the most fasinating. I really enjoy the fact that the natural world and ordinary people become more prominent in this type of art. I think that pictures of Jesus or a Queen are boring because they're so sterotypical. I can spot a picture of Jesus from a mile away (not that there is anything wrong with that, you just can tell) but with picture of regular people you have to think about the picture more. You ask yourself more questions like who are they and why are they here.

Also the amount of statues that they had were unreal, almost out numbering the people that lived there and that was one million people! MY favortie part of Roman architecture by far was the fact that they concetrated on the interior and how comfortable it was for people to live inside of it unlike how the Greeks focused on nature and did not care about the people and their comfort.

The time period that has most interested me would happen to be Classical but specifically High Classical. High classical is known as the Classical Moment and it is that of a new, self confident frame of mind. The values of order, measure, proportion, control, and harmony are the telling signs of High classical period. An example of High classical would be the Parthenon. The first peak of humanist optimism occured in this period. This interests me because in my own art, I am very to the detail and everything has to be proportional and fit together. I am a very optomistic person myself and I identify best with this time period and I find the art breathtaking. I can't wait to finish this project and se the final result.

The Classical period generally started to be accepted in 1750 until 1810. The term classical is also used colloquially to designate a variety of styles rooted in the European musical tradition which dates all the way back to the 9th century. Also, the classic period began between the Baroque and the Romantic periods. Furthermore, some of the World’s best known composers come from this period. For Example, Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Ludwig van Beethoven are all very popular names in today’s musical society. Musical eras rarely disappear at one instant. Instead, features are replaced over time until the old is simply left to be "old-fashioned". The Classical style did not die, so much as it transformed under the weight of changes.

Of all the periods we’ve looked at so far, Romanticism most interests me. The elements of natural beauty and untamed emotions during the period are fascinating. They feel like they are a better expression of the human experience than uptight Classical or Baroque styles. I define great art as being an accurate and beautiful representation of the human experience, and Romanticism has that coming out its ears. The simplicity and honesty of expression that the Romantic period embraces is what makes it so attractive.

The Classical Greek period, though beautiful, tries too hard to be perfect to make it fit my definition of great art. It’s pretentious, trying to separate and elevate itself from the simpler things in the world that inspired it. The gaudy statue of Athena in the Parthenon is a good example of how the Greeks strayed too far from the natural things that inspired their art in the first place. An enormous statue of marble, gold, and precious stones doesn’t have anything similar to it outside the false beauty of the Greeks’ buildings. It’s not real enough for me. Romanticism is by far the more enjoyable art form.

I am intrigued by "Classical" (Greek) art, because it evolved so much and was the first real stylistic period. Before Classical art there was art, but it was classified neolithic or paleolithic, only based on time period and nothing else. Classical Art itself is comprised of Arcaeic, Classic, and Helenistic Art, with subcategories within each one, making it a very broad term, and thus a very extensive study. Within these types I find Helenistic (late) classical art the most interesting, because it focuses on emotion and goes away from the earlier forms of art, which was based mostly on just the modeling of the human form, containing no action or feeling.

I think that the Roman period is very interesting. The way they were able to create materials like concrete for their architecture and sculptures is very impressive. I also admire the fact that not many artists signed their work, this made it so that people were focusing on the works of art rather than who created them. I also am very interested in how they came up with the idea of the dome. The Greeks were not able to create this yet the Romans were able to find a way to make a dome for the roofs of their structures. It must have been a very difficult architectural achievement but it is very fascinating.

The stylistic period I find most fascinating or rather, more appealing, is the Late Classical period. I prefer statues to most other forms of art. During the late classical period, the statues were at their most life like looking, the details being so minute that it most likely took months for just a small section of cloth to be just right. The statues seem so real that my mind sometimes thinks that if i touched the arm of a statue from that time, it would be flesh i would touch, not stone. That whole concept just blows my mind away, i could just spend a day looking at statues and wondering what and who the artist was trying to depict.

My favorite style of historical art has to be he gothic style. I appreciate the work of architecture more then that of a painting. I had already studied one type of architecture and it amazed me that people spend their whole lives working on one room of a building. I am baffled by the amount of detail that goes into these works of art. Especially the stained glass. When m friends at school bring out their projects in stainded glass I am amazed. Butte when I see the glass from gothic architecture it is ridiculous how much effort goes into these. The tall spires also look very unique, along with the stone arches. I think I like architecture more because I would like to be an architecture of some sort when I am older. And because of how massive the buildings are compared to a painting.

The reason this period is most appealing to me is because they would tend to focus on the individual more-so than the types and prototypes that had preoccupied Greeks for example. Roman artists would rarely sign their works. I find this to be really neat because it means that these artists weren't only creating their art to become famous or for money but because it was an outlet for them or something they trully loved to do. Also, during this time, statues were a very popular type of art and I have always had a lot of appreciation for statues because it is often overlooked how they are made and what the artists actually did to create such masterpieces. Rome was the capital of the largest empire ever known, and this shows that many things were happenning and it was a time of discovery. Those are some reasons why i find the roman period so interesting.

My favortie art period was the Italian Renassiance. The realism and detail the artists put into their work. The art was influenced by Greece and Rome and there was a great deal of realism in their sculptures, with animated and expressive figures. The artists mastery of perspective led to illusionistic scenes mostly of ceilings. The ninja turtles got their names from great artists of this period, michealangelo, donatello, leonardo da vinci, and rapheal.

I don't think there is one particular stylistic period that I found most intriguing, mostly because they all seem to mesh together in some way. However, one that I found fairly unique was the Roman art. My favorite part was how they used to art for the purposes of propaganda. For example in the reading, Augustus used rhetoric in his art to promote change. He had the idea to use Greek mythological characters mixed with more contemporary individuals, including himself and his family. I thought it was a clever way for him to portray how he aimed to claim authority over the past and present.

I enjoy the northern renaissance period over all other periods that we are researching. It is the most pure form of art, with the most attention to detail. Unlike the baroque and the rococo periods, which are both rather over the top, the northern renaissance is more attentive to detail, giving the artist a chance to really show what they are visualizing, rather than simply mashing something together.
